Did a ton of research before I bought this saw. We primarily heat our house with wood so I needed a saw that would hold up to farm use. First use was cutting up a 30” red oak and it exceeded my expectations. Did exactly what I needed it to do
I’ve run a lot of different chains over the years, and the OREGON 20LGX Saw Chain is a solid performer for anyone who actually uses their saw hard. This is a .050 gauge, .325 pitch, full chisel chain, and it absolutely cuts like one. Right out of the box it was sharp and aggressive. In clean hardwood and softwood it pulls itself through the cut with very little pressure. Chip size is great, and it clears material fast. If you’re bucking logs or processing firewood in volume, this chain saves time.
The full chisel cutters are no joke, and they’re designed for speed. As long as you stay out of dirt and keep it properly tensioned and oiled, it holds an edge well. I also appreciate how easy it is to sharpen. The filing marks make touch-ups straightforward, and it responds well to a proper file job. It runs smooth with minimal vibration for an aggressive chain, and it tracks straight on my bar. No wandering or chatter issues.
This isn’t a beginner chain. Full chisel cuts fast but requires good saw control and maintenance. If you know what you’re doing and want performance over “low kickback” training wheels, this is a great option.
For the price, the performance is hard to beat. I’ll definitely keep buying this one.
